‘Life at the Extreme’ is how they describe the round the world yacht race sponsored by Volvo. The boats will leave Alicante, Spain on the first leg in October 2008. Nine months later they will contest the final leg to St. Petersburg in Russia. In between, a dedicated media provider on each boat will be sending back news and pictures to the website, 24 hours a day. For enthusiasts this is a chance to get as close to the race as good sense allows. For the curious it offers a taste of ‘the Formula One of sailing’ without having to get their feet wet.
